There is
one Kuala Lumpur Transportation System
almost every visitor
will come across and this is the 8.6km KL Monorail
serving the heart of the city. Its the Bukit Bintang
area. It also provides a link into the city's other
public transport system by connecting with the Putra
and Star light rail networks. Bukit Bintang is a
vibrant area of shopping centres, hotels, and
outdoor cafes.
The Ringgit 1.2 billion ($US 315.8 million) line has
11 stations and carry about 85,000 passengers/day.
Fares compare favourably with taxi fares and, unlike
Putra and Star, which are loss-making and had to be
rescued by the government after running into
financial problems, KL Monorail is confident of
paying its own way by raising money through station
sponsorships as well as through the fares.

The problem with this
Monorail Kuala Lumpur Transportation System is that
most time its extremely overcrowded due to a very

long interval between trains coming in and not
enough carriages running, it seems nobody is able to
manage this monorail system in the right way beside
of the fact that it would be very easy to do it
orderly.

 |
Actually this is not
only with the monorail but also very evident with
the underground rail service. At any time e.g. all
ticket machines at the stations are not working.
There are lots of problems like the machines aren't
working all or they wont accept a certain money like
the one maybe wont take coins the next wont take
notes and so on. The result is dozens of people
cueing at the manual ticket counter, if asked why no
repair, everyone is laughing. All this rail
transportation stuff is great but the handling is
very poor.
Be aware of the taxi
sharks, Kuala Lumpur taxi driver are even worst than
their counterparts in Bangkok and very similar to
the guys in the Philippines. Cheating is rampant,
mainly be refusing to switch on the meter.
The left picture shows
the bus used on the long haul routes to Singapore
and
Hat Yai in
Thailand.
