The premier
destination for Kuala Lumpur shopping is the
Central Market.
This is the real KL shopping in terms of
native products and creativity. Most
other Kuala Lumpur Shopping Malls just bring
the things you can find anywhere in the
World.
There are some exceptions such as
Kuala Lumpur China Town and the area around Imbi Plaza Monorail Station. Actually the
Central Market is in China Town just a few
minutes off Petaling Road. What you can find
at the Kuala Lumpur China Town night market
you usually can also find at
Bangkok Markets.
A monorail ride from Maharajalela Station
in China Town up to Imbi Station should
be on the agenda of every KL visitor. The
simple reason is you get a total insight
into the old Kuala Lumpur Pudu Prison.
The Pudu Prison or Pudu Jail of
Kuala Lumpur was the place where
they brought all drug traffickers and other
heavy criminals to justice and finally to
the hanging machine.
Using the elevated KL Monorail the whole
panorama of this notorious prison is just in
front of you. Now the prison is not used
anymore it has been moved to another site
outside Kuala Lumpur.
The KL monorail is probably the best
means of transport to go shopping in KL.
Any other non rail transportation will get
you into the famous and infamous Kuala
Lumpur gridlock. Means traffic standstill
and this is the normal situation.

Kuala Lumpur has a good
blend of old and new architecture. The
influence of Victorian, Neo Moorish, Portuguese,
old Chinese colonial and Modern Architecture
come together at best at the Kuala Lumpur
Central Market in China Town KL and at
Penang.

The Kuala Lumpur Central Market
in Chinatown is on
Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock, opposite the Klang Bus
Station and the Pasar Seni train station. The
orchid and hibiscus garden is also just in close
range.
The Central Market is a different shopping
mall, it’s a host of local handicrafts and
art works plus all kind of native arts and
crafts from all over Malaysia, including Sarawak
and Sabah, that’s the part of Malaysia commonly
known as Borneo, you know, the Orang Utan, don’t
you ?
Orang Utan in Malaysian language means,
people from the forest. The Kuala Lumpur
Central Market has a touch of art deco and is
the home of Malaysian folk art and all kind of
antiques, Malaysian kites, ceramics, modern
style clothes, batik fashion, and plenty of
other cultural artistry.
One of the best
reasons to buy these beautiful items is,
they are priced friendly to the
consumer, when did you hear this last?
But you can still do a little
bargaining. The |

Malaysian language,
